youth-happenings

 Whuzzup?

Our youth group is looking for young people from 7th-12th grade. Come on over and bring a friend!

We endeavor to plan events that offer a lot of fun, and hope that you can suggest other fun activities.

 Youth Events

Youth events take place both inside and outside Hillside and allows the youth leaders to provide front-line leadership for the youths. These events include fun times such as the Fall Super Bowl, Christmas parties, Mini-Golf, and Lock-ins.

Hike Up Catamount Hill – On May 7, 2011, a small group of youth and adults and one frisky dog went for a hike up Catamount Hill in Bear Brook State Park. Bug spray helped keep the black flies at bay. At a rock outcropping just below the summit, we enjoyed the scenic outlook toward Fort Mountain. We soon made it to the firescarred summit where we had good views toward Mt. Kearsarge and beyond. We made it back to our cars safe and sound just before the rain came down.

Mini-Golf Outing – On June 19, 2010, we enjoyed a family outing to Chuckster's Mini-Golf in Chichester. As to be expected, we got to see many of our golf balls bounce off rocks and boulders and plunk into the water hazards, but we completed the game. Sandy and Shannon tied for low score at 49. Roch led the men with a score of 53. Par for the course was 44 so we need to go again to get more practice.

Glow Bowling – On April 17, 2010, about a dozen youth and parents went to Boutwell's Bowling Center in Concord for Glow Bowling. This was a sensory overload with pop rock music, strobe lights, disco balls, black lights, and ground fog. We also played a few strings of candlepin bowling. Everyone had a good time.

Mini-Golf Outing – On August 8, 2009, the youth enjoyed an outing to Chuckster's Mini-Golf in Chichester. The outing included a hilarious round of mini-golf, with lots of golf balls flying into the water traps and ricocheting off the rock borders. This was followed by a few sets in the batting cages, and then some delicious hard ice cream (Moose Nuggets, yum!). It was a good example of Christians knowing how to have a good time together.

Superbowl 2006 – This was an annual evangelistic event organized by Word of Life Fellowship. Hillside youths departed Friday evening, Nov. 3 for Portland, Maine. They went to a hockey game in Portland, then stayed for a rally that featured crazy games like using a giant slingshot to shoot a kid on a sled into giant bowling pins.

superbowl sumo kidOther evening highlights included a roller skating rink and a sporting complex that offered mechanical bull riding, and wacky activities like sumo wrestling (first you had to get into a huge padded suit) and boxing with giant gloves. The kids had a great time as you can see in this photo album. Tim Mountfort and Don Yeaton were the chaperones and drivers. All returned sometime Saturday morning, very tired.
