NHBA Spring Meeting - April 18, 6pm

It is that time of year again when we gather as churches and believers to conduct the business of the association and to celebrate what the Lord has been doing in our midst.  We will be hosted by Higher Ground Baptist Church in their newly acquired facility at 100 Old Turnpike Road (Route 4), Nottingham, NH.

Map of Higher Ground's location

Registration of messengers will begin at 6 pm; the meeting will begin at 6:30 pm and we will conclude with a time of testimonies and worship.  Associational ministry leaders, please provide your written reports electronically to Abbey Clegg at sec@nhba-sbc.com to be placed in the Book of Reports.  The association exists to serve you, the local church, so please come and be a part of setting the direction of the association as we serve side-by-side sowing the seed of the Gospel here in New Hampshire and abroad.

Partnership Development

Partnership is "the relationship between two or more people or organizations that are involved in the same activity (Encarta Dictionary)."  A partnership by its nature is also a reciprocal relationship, whereby each party assists one another for the accomplishment of a common goal.  The association has been working hard in the area of partnership development.  Abbey Clegg has put together a wonderful resource to highlight the church planting need here in NH, but we will also be adapting that resource to highlight the needs of our established churches.  The association is seeking to initiate, encourage, and resource church to church partnerships to assist them as they fulfill the Great Commission here in NH; but also to equip and encourage the churches of the association to step out into their Samaria, Judea, and uttermost parts to assist others in fulfilling the Great Commission.   Pastor Tom Gore is assisting the association in the area of partnership development by connecting with potential partner churches and associations outside of New England and coordinating mission teams that want to come to New Hampshire, but do not yet have a place to serve.  If you would like the association to assist in highlighting your churches ministry needs please send a brief synopsis of that need to Abbey at sec@nhba-sbc.com and we will follow-up with you.  This will not affect any existing partnerships you might have, but is for the development of new partnerships.

NH Foliage NHBA Disaster Relief

We continue to prepare for the potential of spring flooding and our needed response.  NHBA Disaster Relief has become an important part of NH's response in these times of need; please consider joining this important ministry.  When we meet the physical needs of people the doors swings wide open to meet their greater spiritual need---a need for Jesus Christ.  The disaster relief ministry saw seven professions of faith last year and one mudout this year has resulted in on-going ministry to a family.  If you would like to know more about Disaster Relief ministry please contact Al Page at (603) 219-6251.  Volunteers are need for things such as mudout, chainsaw, shower units, etc.  If you are interested, we will train you.

Church Planting Seminar

The Northeastern Biblical Studies Center is hosting a two-part Introduction to Church Planting seminar at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.  The second day will be Saturday April 5th from 9am to 2pm; lunch is provided.  Even if you missed the first day, come for the second; we will be discussing church planting models/designs, assessing communities, penetrating community networks, the importance of intentional discipleship and practical tools.  So if you are curious about or already interested in church planting please plan to attend.

The Many Faces of the  Missionary Service Corps

When we think of missionaries, we often envision preachers, church workers, Bible teachers, youth and children workers and they are.  Yet missionaries serve in many different ways.  Ron Wilson of Augusta Maine serves as an Associate in Evangelism Support for the Maine Baptist Association as a Mission Service Corps Missionary. As a trained martial arts instructor in Kung Fu Ron shares the gospel through Kung Fu demonstrations and classes.  When teaching a course he uses break time to present a devotional about Jesus and teaches scripture verses.  Those participating must memorize scripture verses assigned to get their sashes as they pass the levels of the course.  Ron also does martial arts demonstrations at block parties, fairs and other outreach events. Many youth and adults have received Jesus Christ through this ministry.  Ron and his wife, Angela, are also assisting with a new church start in Winthrop, ME.  Ron and Angela lead several Bible studies and Ron has the opportunity to preach one Sunday a month.

They, along with their two children, Joshua and Angela Faith are still becoming fully  assimilated into their community and into the Maine lifestyle, having come to New England just last fall.

Ron Wilson is just one example of a missionary using his talent to lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  If you would like Ron to present a Kung Fu demonstration at your church or community outreach event, contact him at 207-626-3258 or by e-mail at rwilson32669@roadrunner.com.

 Update from Hershel Strickland

The ladies group at Hillside Baptist have made flower arrangements for our seniors in the  Summercrest Independent Living and Woodlawn Assisted Living homes in Newport.  Laurie Carpenter, from Hillside, will be delivering them and singing in our services this Sunday (Palm Sunday).   We continue to have around 40 very faithful attendees at the two nursing homes.  We are teaching and preaching through the Bible using the LifeWay series.  We do, of course, thank everyone for their prayers for this ministry.
